Somerset Straggler’s v Straggler’s of Asia Friday 13th September 2024

Straggler's men played their last game of season, against touring team Straggler's of Asia in a timed game.

Played at Wombat CC - Bishops Lydeard.

Straggler's captain, Peter Matravers lost the toss - Somerset Straggler's to bat first.

Openers Harry Everett and Jacob Hurry got the innings off to a steady start, putting on 59 for the first wicket, when Jacob was trapped LBW for 28.
Anburaj Alexander looking to up the run rate hit a quick fire 18 from 12 balls, including one four and two sixes - 89/2.
Wickets started to fall at regular intervals, with the score on 144/5 Sam Burgess joined Harry at the crease, to hit a brilliant 66 not out from 38 balls, including Severn fours and three sixes and with Harry reaching a well deserved 100 not out from 134 balls, including fourteen fours.
Captain Peter declared the innings, with the score 242/5 (47.2 overs).

SOA in reply needing 243 to win, lost a wicket in the first over, when Ian Tier produced a beauty to clean bowl F.Haider - 8/1. Next to fall was the dangerous Tom Russell, also bowled by the young impressive quick bowler Will Bere for ten - 33/2.
Somerset Straggler's bowlers all bowled well, continued to take wickets at regular intervals, to bowl out SOA for 90 runs in the 36 over.

Somerset Straggler's win by 152 runs.
